Rubiky - Beginner-Frendly Rubik's Cube Algoritms Guide

Introduction

Here we'll describe the Algorithm used in all the guides withing this blog to solve the differents variants of the rubik's cube supported by Rubiky. What we call Algorithm here is a sequence of moves that you need to do in specific order.

Rubik’s Cubes We'll Cover

The algorithm described here will just be used for three differents types of Cube: the Rubik’s Cube Mini (Pocket Cube or 2X2 Rubik's Cube), the Rubik’s Cube (Classic 3X3 Rubik's cube), and the Rubik’s Cube Master Cube (Revenge Cube or 4X4 Rubik's Cube).

Rubik's Mini

The Rubik’s Mini, also known as Pocket Cube or 2X2 Rubik’s Cube is a smaller and easier variant of the Rubik’s Cube. It consists of 8 colored cubies (corner pieces) each with 3 stickers of one of the 6 Rubik’s Cube colors and is arranged on two horizontal layers. The corner pieces are the only movable pieces and can be rotated in groups of four. There are no edge or center pieces in this cube.

Rubik's Cube

The Rubik’s Cube, also known as Classic Cube or 3X3 Rubik’s cube is the original and most popular 3D combination puzzle. It consists of 26 colored cubies (8 corners, 12 edges, and 6 center pieces) each with 1, 2, or 3 stickers of one of the 6 Rubik’s Cube colors (generaly white, yellow, green, blue, red, and orange) and is arranged on three horizontal layers. The center pieces are fixed in their positions and determine the color scheme of the cube.

Rubik's Master

The Rubik’s Master, also known as Rubik's Revenge or 4X4 Rubik’s Cube is a larger and more challenging variant of the Rubik’s Cube. It consists of 56 colored cubies (8 corners, 24 edges, and 24 center pieces) each with 1 or 2 stickers of one of the 6 Rubik’s Cube colors and is arranged on four horizontal layers. The center pieces are not fixed in their positions and can be swapped with each other. There are 2 identical edge pieces for each color pair and 4 center pieces for each color.

Faces And Algorithm Keys

In this Algorithm, Each face is represented by a letter and each move is a 1/4 TURN. When Following it, it's important to maintain the FRONT face of your Rubik's Cube so it stay the FRONT through all of the turns.

A turn is clockwise when looking at the face directly. A letter with an apostrophe (') after it means to make an inverse or counterclockwise turn of the face.

When you'll see the number 2 next to the algorithm letter, turn the face twice: F2 = F F

There are many Algorithm Keys depending on which variant of rubik's cube you are solving:
